I can never thank you enough for everything you did for my mom back in 2008. There is one specific moment that I've actually had on my mind a lot lately...it was Wednesday, July 1, 2008, at some point in the morning. My sweet mom had been sick for almost four years at this point and we had just brought in hospice (although we didn't tell her that). You were her FAVORITE, and you just happened to be there that morning when she - for the first time in all those years - started crying and telling me she didn't want to die. Amanda, she had never, ever mentioned death until that day. I remember standing at the bedroom window while she cried...I was so caught up in my own grief that I couldn't bring myself to walk those few steps over to her and comfort her. You did what I couldn't that day. You sat with her, you held her hand, you were just there with her in those few minutes of her grief. I still feel guilty that I wasn't able to get past ME long enough to comfort her on that day, but I am eternally grateful for you and everything you did for her in those last days before she passed on July 4.
